Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Facilities is responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the Facilities & Engineering department, as well as maintaining the physical structure and working order of the hotel's electrical, plumbing, HVAC and gas systems. Responsibilities also include maintaining the exterior appearance and overall safety of the building, parking lots, and common areas; ensuring all equipment in guest rooms is in working order, conducting monthly safety inspections and training staff on safety/emergency procedures, and communicating with vendors. The Assistant Director will need to be willing and able to respond to emergencies, take the lead on maintenance projects and understand capital expenditure needs. This position requires extensive overall engineering/maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting ability with skills including, but not limited to, HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, carpentry, heavy machinery, and industrial tool usage. This role will support the Director of Facilities and Engineering.

All duties are performed in accordance with department and property policies, practices and procedures.

Job Duties

--- Provide leadership and direction in the development, execution and measurement of service standards to include the management of all technical trade classifications (Engineers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Laborers, Plumbers, Landscapers, etc.) consistent with the company's brand attributes

--- Review contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with vendors, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors

--- Plan, organize, and direct activities & projects concerned with the maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems in accordance with the company's business objectives

--- Develop and implement quality control programs for operational functions of the campus with a specific focus on the efficiency and safety of all equipment

--- Inspect and review projects to ensure full compliance with building and safety codes, as well as any and all other regulations (local, zoning, etc.)

--- Partner with building code officials, planning/zoning officials and community design committees to ensure building meets all city/state/federal codes and safety standards

--- Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the business at all times

--- Maintain communications with hotel leadership and ensure communication regarding room availability, as well as any and all situations that may affect the guest experience

--- Train staff and communicate expectations in guest room & mechanical preventative maintenance programs to ensure property is kept up to standards at all times

--- Maintain a positive work space for all team members where employee engagement levels are high due to everyone feeling valued and enjoy coming to their job

--- Promote diversity, inclusion, pride, respect, camaraderie and fairness

--- Teach about doing things the right way with integrity, hard work, collaboration and teamwork

--- Display fiscal responsibility for both the property as well as the departments by consistently looking for ways to refine the business without compromising guest satisfaction

--- Exercise discretion and independent judgment when evaluating new programs, new services and new ideas

--- Continue to learn and be on the forefront of new technology for the hotel industry

--- Create ways to further enrich the guest experience by continuously reviewing, implementing and refining procedures to ensure every opportunity to offer extraordinary guest experiences while maintaining a culture of smiles, retention of luxury standards

--- Proactively seek guest feedback and liaise with other departments when opportunities present themselves ensuring a seamless and elevated guest experience

--- Develop collaborative relationships and synergy with all support departments such as Convention Sales & Services, Food and Beverage, Security, Front Services, Front Office, F&B, Golf Course and Executive Offices

--- Perform other functions as needed
